This house sits on a calm and secluded beach covered by thick groves of casuarina trees in Manjeshwar, 20 km from Mangalore city. The design of the house was inspired by the owner’s love for Srilankan architecture.

While most beach houses focus primarily on the beach view, we have created an equally important courtyard. One enters the house through a low traditionally carved main door to get a first glimpse of the well-articulated light-flooded courtyard which opens up to the large living space facing the Arabian sea. The sea invites tranquility and serenity with its openness, invoking the sea breeze and its vastness while the courtyard works efficiently in creating a cozy feeling. There is a layering of spaces and views with varying scale , textures and lighting create a tranquil feeling much needed for a weekend getaway.
